I think it should be localized to your age. Maybe its legal within 2 years of your age up until 20. 18 and 19 year olds, especially girls are extremely sexualized cause they're still teenagers but they're also legal. For discussion sake, I would say that a 14 year old is potentially not mature enough to make a mature decision regarding sex and I'd say that a lot of times, a 16 year old is much more mature than a 14 year old. So, while a 14 year old might think that they know what they are doing, emotionally and physically, are they ready to be a parent? are they ready to potentially get an STD that will be with them the rest of their life? Is the 16 year old taking advantage of the 14 year old? potentially... highly, possibly even. People tend to do a lot of maturing between 14 and 16 years old, physically and mentally, and I think that no one under 15 should even be in a romantic relationship (if I am to have an opinion at all... I do, because while some underage parents turn out to be great, a lot of them end up with kids without full-families and end up never fully developing , physically and mentally, before they become parents and that should be addressed). Just my thought on the matter

For the France debate: I think it's creepy for anyone under 18 to be dating someone over 2 years older than them. A 16 and 18 year old dating each other is fine imo, but it gets creepy when you're less than 16 dating someone who's 18/19. I found it creepy in hs when seniors and freshmen would date, and I find it creepy now. The amount we develop in hs is huge, we are not the same people at 18 that we were when we were 14. We know more, we view the world differently, and we're not even done yet. I can safely say the things I believed at _16_ were vastly different from what I knew and believed by 17, much less 18 and now 20. Once you're over 18, do whatever you want as long as it isn't harming anyone (although, I would tread lightly there too, bc 18 y/os dating people in their 30s+ still feels somewhat manipulative bc like I said, you're not done yet at 18. They’re not mature enough to live on their own or consent to older people. 18 to 20 year olds need to focus on saving up for a house and learning what you need to do to be able to live on your own. So age of consent is a hard one. If two 14 year olds have sex, although very young seems ok. But a 36 year old having sex with a 17 year old is super inappropriate imo
